Project Management for the Non-Project Manager |
Overview |
A project is a temporary endeavour undertaken to create a unique product, service or other measurable end result. Most organizations do not have full-time project managers. Rather, managing projects is considered to be part of a person's everyday job. This is stressful because many, if not most, of these people do not know how to successfully manage the projects they are required to deliver. Or, they may not always have the necessary time or resources to support them. Examples of projects include: developing a marketing plan, organizing an event, creating a new product or service, developing a new manufacturing process, creating a web site, and so on. As a result, most organizations today are faced with enormous costs owing to bad project management. The root cause of many of these projects failing is the lack of clarity of project scope and poorly defined project plans. Training that provides a clear, simple and proven process for managing projects is ultimately a cost-saving endeavour for organizations.
