Many organizations implement a Project Management Office (PMO) or Enterprise Project Office (EPO) as a centralized support system for planning and control of project implementation. A PMO or EPO can help encourage everyone in the organization to consistently use the project management process and is a great resource for project teams. Yet our research tells us that most PMOs last only a couple of years because they do not have the best reporting structure or methodologies for prioritizing projects and generating resources or the organizational culture is not supportive.
Business Improvement Architects provides the following consulting services to create and sustain a PMO:
- Setting up and maintaining the project management office,
- Development of a process for project prioritization
- Development of a process for resourcing projects and ensuring that projects are strategically linked.
Once the project management office is fully developed, Business Improvement Architects will provide an independent and objective review of how well it is performing.
We also assist organizations to take their PMO out of a department and into the organization by creating Enterprise Project Offices (EPO). Built on similar principles as a departmentally-based PMO these EPOs oversee the management of projects throughout the organization.
Because each project office is different, we tailor our set-up and review to the specific needs of the organization.
